Alan Field / Writer-Producer

Alan Field wrote his first script ‘The Likes of Us,’ which after a chance meeting with Jimmy McGovern became part of the Bafta, RTS, and Emmy award winning series The Street (Series 1, ep4: BBC1). After this Alan went on to co-write and produce his first feature film, a low-budget crime thriller called Act of Grace, starring Leo Gregory, David Yip, Crissy Rock, Jody Latham. It was released in April 2012.

Eduardo Pérez Vidal / Director – Cinematographer

Eduardo is an experienced self shooting producer/director. Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Eduardo decided to leave the idyllic island and move to the UK to pursue his passion and study filmmaking.

After finishing the MA Media Practice in Wales with a First Class grade, in 2006 he graduated with a Masters Degree in Filmmaking at the London Film School. This could not have been possible without the help of the INJUVE (Institute of Youth, Spain) scholarship.

The Road to Santiago is his first feature documentary. At the moment he is based in London working internationally in various human rights focused documentaries.

Ian Hughes / Sound Recordist

Ian is happily married and has one child. He’s been a TV editor for 15 years and has spent 7 of those years in London. He’s a qualified sound engineering. His furry looking animal mic windshield got the crew in several problems with stray dogs along the Camino as it is portrayed in the documentary.

He has worked in ‘UNDERCOVER BOSS’, ‘ON THE YORKSHIRE BUSES’ and ‘THE AUCTION HOUSE’ to name a few.

Nathan Lord / Unit Manager

It seems a world away since we voyaged across the Camino de Santiago to document Alan and Jody’s pilgrimage from Saint-Jean- Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela. Whilst Alan has spent the last few years in an edit suite, I’ve been busy changing nappies and planning a wedding. I’ve also learnt a thing or two about making television, as I have been working at the BBC for the last few years.

However, nothing I have worked on since has compared to the ‘enlightening’ experience of The Road to Santiago.
As arduous as Alan and Jody’s 790km walk appeared as I gazed from the front seat of our four-birth Motorhome, driving across rural Spain certainly had its own challenges. The biggest challenge for me was trying to avoid balconies above as I swerved my way around the narrow streets of the Basque country. However, as much as I tried to avoid them, I did manage to stick a couple of rather large holes into the upper bodywork of the Motorhome.

Anyway let’s not dwell on that… Those five weeks are certainly up there with one of the best times of my life.

Pura Vida.
